Hello, your site is awesome, you post some amazing historic stuff, i really dig it. I posted the comment about this cut not being real. I seen it on ebay also. I was like wow who were they ? So i asked some grey beards that i ride with and showed them. One at first thought it could of been an old support club. One guy looked into it, made phone calls, and did some good research. He said its cool, but that club never was or has been in Oregon. The grey beard that told me it was fake, cool, and that some person did a good job making this novelty/ not real cut - he got a good laugh out of it. has been riding in Oregon for over 40 years. But hey its pretty cool, i have to say. again thank you for the awesome site you have man. FTW
If real, that club probably came before the concept of a support club even existed. Just because somebody has been riding for 40 years doesn't mean they know every single thing that existed in a given area. There were thousands of MCs all over America that had less than a dozen members at their height. You run into a similar situation with old records, people will find old psychedelic and punk 45s and then look for info on the bands and NO ONE will have any memory of them existing at all- then later info will come up showing that they played live etc. When your talking about regionalized counter culture stuff; the idea that anyone is going to be an authority on everything from a given time period/area doesn't fly. If that club were from the late 50s and had a lifespan of three years- how would a bunch of guys who started riding in the late 60s early 70s and were coming from an entirely different generational standpoint even know that club existed?
I've been riding since 1967, in California and up and down the West Coast. In the Midwest...mostly St. Louis, Detroit, Chicago, etc.. During the 60's and early 70's there was damn near a club in every town, of some sort or other. The biker movies made everyone want to be an 'outlaw' biker. These guys were on every kind of bike you can imagine...but also during this period I saw HAs, Outlaws and lots of other club people on Triumphs, BSAs, BMWs and even some Jap bikes. It was a lot less uptight about appearances back then...guys even packed other guys if someones bike was down, without everyone thinking they were queer, or whatever. Great photo in 'The Bike Riders' Hells Angel packing with Outlaw...WTF, I have a bit of a problem picturing that happening today! As far as grey beards knowing everything that went on in their state....fat chance. I know a shitload of these guys, and alot of them can't remember what they had for dinner last Friday, much less everything that went on in their state in 1965-78.. And in case anyone asks...I have worn club colors, four different clubs..(well, actually only prospect patch in one of them) but I'm still wearing full patches.

This cub never did exist in Oregon. A person did a really good job making this cut, and its neat.
